It’s been a grand two weeks back as features editor of The Signal and I’ve loved every minute of it. Thanks to all for your good wishes and kind comments about my new column “glamour” mug shot.

Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, Inc.
I’m rather fond of installations held at Le Chene French Cuisine, far up Sierra Highway on the fringes of Agua Dulce. Le Chene is far out of cell phone range, but it offers some of the best banquet food in or near the SCV. Monday’s installation of the officers of the Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers board included a great meal (I love that salmon) and installing officer Mayor Bob Kellar’s lighthearted jests. Ed Bolden was returned to his third tour of duty as president, Chris Ball as vice president, and Liz Seipel as secretary.

Among those spotted at the event were Bob Hudson and Margo Miller, Cheryl Laymon, Laura Gallardo, Ruben Hernandez, MD, Pat Warford, Adele Macpherson, Frank and Charlotte Kleeman and Elijah Canty. Canty, who is in his 90s and still going strong, is one of the two Emeritus members of the board, the other being former Santa Clarita mayor Jo Anne Darcy. The current board includes Chris Ball, Steven Boldvich III, Dalton Celauis, Gene Dorio MD, John Frye, Laura Gallardo, Bob Hudson, Charlotte Kleeman, Adele Macpherson, P.K. Reibsamen, Liz Seipel, Pat Warford and Dora Zavala.

Kudos to Gold Feather
One of the neatest events I’ve been to recently was Celia Gallardo’s seminar held at the Valencia Country Club on July 17. Guests were able to learn about some interesting investment opportunities, and nonprofits were invited to sign up to receive $250 for attending. It was Gallardo’s continuing effort to give back to the SCV. She’s known for her “clean sweeps” through Newhall encouraging business and residents to show civic pride in keeping Newhall clean and for her philanthropic efforts in the SCV.
