Building an inferno

It is the season of wildfires. As a disaster-relief nurse, I will work in the shelters for victims affected by these fires. It is therefore incomprehensible that the proposal for the Entrada development even exists.

An article in The Signal ("Entrada: A gateway to Newhall Ranch," July 18) stated the following: "Entrada planners have set aside enough land for a few Dave & Buster's-type of entertainment restaurant businesses: commercial areas totaling 726,000 square feet of development. In addition to the 408 single-family homes, they plan to develop 39 condo lots (1,232 multi-family units) and 17 commercial lots."

Possible (and I believe inevitable) environmental impacts are stated. The article included a very long list containing three elements for a firestorm, with an ensuing risk to the lives and safety of citizens and firefighters.

"Fires: Entrada is in a ‘very high fire severity zone.' Utilities: There's not enough water pressure to fight fires. Traffic: Possible traffic congestion is a concern due to 1,640 new dwelling units."

Based on this information, I predict the following: lives lost, homes and businesses destroyed, evacuation impossible.
