Assistance League
Back to School

The Assistance League of Santa Clarita is featuring "Back to School" shopping from July 30 to Aug. 30 at their Take Two Resale shop. Proceeds benefit various philanthropic programs, including Operation School Bell. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. through Friday. and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Summer Food Pantry Drive
The city of Santa Clarita will host a special Summer Food Drive between Aug. 4-29 at three city locations: City Hall, the Transit Maintenance Facility and the Aquatics Center. Donations may be dropped off Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and on Fridays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, contact Belinda Crawford at (661) 255-9078.

Castaic Lake

The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting two new programs at Castaic Lake Recreation Area. For Movies at the Lake, the community is invited to bring snacks, a comfortable chair or blanket and enjoy a family movie in Paradise Cove on the lagoon. Vehicle parking is $11 but the movie is free. Movies are scheduled for Aug. 8, Sept. 5 and Oct. 3. A Summer Campfire Talk Series will be held every Saturday at the new campground amphitheater, on the east side of the lagoon, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The topic for July 12 is scuba diving. There will also be talks about sailing, kayaking, fishing, astronomy and local history. For information, call (661) 257-4050.

Manage Your Time Presentation
On Aug. 12 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. the Family Child Care Association of the SCV will be hosting a presentation on Time Management by Liz Hodson. Liz is a radio personality on our hometown station and a life skills coach. Members are free, guests are $5 to attend. The FDCASCV meets the second Tuesday of every month at the New Apostolic Church on Bouquet Canyon for networking and support for licensed in-home child care providers and parent advocates. ‘The Bucket List' at Senior Center

Meet at 6 p.m. at Pavillons Shopping Center located on corner of McBean Parkway/Magic Mountain Parkway. in Santa Clarita (take I-5 N, exit at Valencia Blvd., turn right (east), then left (north) on McBean Parkway. Turn left at first stoplight past Magic Mountain Parkway. into Pavillons Shopping Center. Meet at far north side by River. Bring water, flashlight and money for a refreshment stop.

Sunday, Aug 17. Annual Fundraiser Party from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Our annual blowout will be at the Schultz's from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Donation of $20 for individual or $30 for family.
