A 22-year-old Saugus man tried to hit a supermarket employee while stealing two bottles of vodka on Saturday, authorities said.

Chad Blackburn allegedly put two bottles of vodka down his shorts and left a Vons store on Bouquet Canyon Road without paying for the liquor, said Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station in an e-mail.

Blackburn allegedly tried to hit a supermarket employee who confronted him at the store, Cambra said. Blackburn ran to a vehicle being driven by Gerald Stearn, 41.

Deputies went to Stearn’s house later and arrested him and Blackburn on suspicion of burglary.

Each were being held Tuesday on $100,000 bail, according to arrest records.
