The Signal’s Business section welcomes community members to submit stories for publication that the writer believes will be of interest to readers at large.

Ideally, articles should reflect content that will be of interest to the widest number of readers. Stories should spotlight interesting business angles or topics that promote business in general or are helping to sustain an existing business.

Of particular interest would be reports on entrepreneurs and innovators, new technology of value to the business community or consumers, environmentally friendly solutions for businesses, new and emerging businesses and more.

Selected stories will be published in The Signal newspaper and on its website. Story credit will be given to the writers whose articles are selected for publication.

Citizen journalists Community members interested in submitting stories on topics noted above. Some writers may become designated stringers, of which The Signal pays a nominal fee for each story.

Educational instructors High school or college instructors encouraged, who are assigning class projects dedicated to exploring topics of local business growth, economic development, sustainable cities, transportation, affordable housing, defining and tracking local business trends, or any other business related topic. The Signal will collaborate with the instructor by reporting on the efforts of the students, and publishing the results of any course project.

College interns Open to students pursuing journalism, marketing or business degrees, as well as students engaged in new technologies or entrepreneurial efforts. These are unpaid positions but may provide valuable work experience and class credit. Journalism training or background is not a requirement.

Business interns Assist with developing background information on prospective businesses, coordination of ongoing features and collection of content
