Downtown San Bernadino is host to the Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous, the largest car show on the West Coast, on Thursday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 19.

The 21st Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous is expected to draw a record-breaking attendance of more than 500,000 car enthusiasts. Hundreds of registered participants will showcase their classic cars, hot rods and custom vehicles, generating $44 million dollars for the local economy.

"Stater Bros. is proud to once again support the annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous," said Jack H. Brown, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Stater Bros. Supermarkets. "We are happy to give back to the many car enthusiasts in the communities we serve by sponsoring this free nostalgic weekend for the entire family to enjoy."

The Stater Bros. "Family" Fun Zone will be located in the heart of the event at Court and "E" Streets in downtown San Bernardino with activities for the whole family to enjoy. This promotional area is free and will feature cooking demonstrations, food sampling, interactive games and community outreach booths.

The Stater Bros. Court Street Stage will host live music throughout the event from a variety of famed artists such as Rockabilly favorite Deke Dickerson, the piano-pumping Neil Morrow, and The Salas Brothers from the group Tierra.

Stater Bros. is also sponsoring a celebrity autograph session featuring Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice and former NFL Wide Receiver Mark Seay, who serves as the Community Relations Representative for Stater Bros. Supermarkets.

Stater Bros. was founded in 1936 in Yucaipa, California, and has grown steadily through the years to become the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California and the largest private employer in both San Bernardino County and Riverside County, with annual sales in 2009 of $3.77 billion.

The company currently operates 167 supermarkets, and there are more than 18,000 members of the Stater Bros. Supermarket Family. Stater Bros. is the proud recipient of the "2010 Community Service Award" from America's Supermarket Industry and will celebrate its 75th Anniversary in 2011.
