The power in a Canyon Country neighborhood was briefly interrupted Saturday morning after a squirrel crossed power lines, according to a deputy at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

At around 8 a.m., a squirrel caused an area of power lines to short circuit, affecting a portion of Shangri-la Drive towards Whites Canyon Road and near Stillmore Street, according to Deputy Dan Stanley.

Stanley said city and Edison officials responded and were able to reroute the lines to restore power shortly after.

How many Edison customers were affected by the outage was unknown.
