The Rev. Stefanie Etzbach-Dale is the new minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Santa Clarita.
Etzbach-Dale, who is better known as Rev. Stefanie, has served several congregations in Southern California over the last eight years and brings a new perspective to the ever-growing congregation.

“Being a Unitarian Universalist minister provides a great opportunity to work with people who have a deep commitment to the issues of our day,” said Etzbach-Dale, who calls her approach both pastoral and prophetic. “UU of SCV not only provides a spiritual home to people of diverse beliefs, but is a warm and giving community striving to make a real difference in our world.”

Etzbach-Dale is originally from Queens, N.Y., and was ordained as an interfaith minister prior to being awarded a Master of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago in 2005. She was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister by the UU Community Church of Santa Monica in 2005 and was awarded Final Fellowship by the Unitarian Universalist Association at a ceremony in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2009.

In addition to serving UU of SCV, Etzbach-Dale also serves as cluster minister at large for the five UU Churches in the greater San Fernando Valley area. In this capacity, she works to encourage relationship among the congregations and strengthen religious identity, with the support of a committee of representatives from those churches. The next intercongregational San Fernando Valley Cluster Vespers Service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Sepulveda Unitarian Universalist Society in North Hills. Plans are underway for a local service early next year.

Etzbach-Dale also co-founded and serves on the Pacific Southwest Addictions & Recovery Ministry Team, providing support for the 56 churches and fellowships in Southern California, Southern Nevada and Arizona on issues relating to the substance-abuse education, prevention and recovery support. As a volunteer, she is deeply committed to issues surrounding mental health, poverty and homelessness; and conducting group sessions at the “Step Up on Second” agency in Santa Monica.

For more information about the congregation, visit or call (661) 254-7866. UU of SCV meets at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, 22900 Market St. in Newhall.
