What do The Dixie Chicks, Jon Bon Jovi, Dave Koz, Tracy Chapman and Single Mothers Outreach have in common?

They have all had the honor of working with the highly acclaimed accordion player and keyboardist Phil Parlapiano.

Parlapiano will provide the atmosphere for an evening of live music and jazzy elegance at the first annual "Empowering HeARTS, Women Who Empower Women" gala slated for Saturday, Nov.13 at the Dianne G. Van Hook University Center.

Guests are sure to be moved by the music as well as the art and creative narratives depicting the stories of significant women in our community.

Parlapiano has toured the world with the best of the best in folk music, rock, and jazz and has appeared on numerous television shows including "Late Night with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show" and "Good Morning America."

Parlapiano's resounding resume includes the Academy Award-winning movie "Titanic," where he appears as the accordion player, and Martin Scorcese's noted documentary "The Blues."

Parlapiano's talents also include a songwriting style described as "first-rate," and keyboard skills that are admired equally by his peers and devoted listeners.

With the musical genius of Phil Parlapiano, Empowering HeARTS promises to be an event elegantly bridging the worlds of social action and artistic expression.
