Keller does a company good

A few weeks ago I discovered Ken Keller's "Inside Business" column in your Wednesday edition of The Signal. I have to say, as a local businessman myself, that Ken's insights are sound, tried, and true.

Over my 30 years in business, building one of Santa Clarita's largest firms, I have, of course, read many business books and attended many business and motivational seminars.

Most all the books and seminars have been good stuff and have provided me strong insight. But as we all know, without regular input, we can all get rusty.

Keller's columns provide an excellent service in refreshing all that good stuff that I paid a whole lot of money to learn. Ken provides a no-nonsense business management refresher course - and to think: His insights come at no extra cost with my regular Signal newspaper!

Reading Ken is certainly much cheaper than attending this or that super duper seminar!

The Aug. 13 column, "Reinforcement does an employee good," is a particularly good one. In 800 words, Ken Keller communicates the essence of Ken Blanchard's famous business motivation text, "The One Minute Manager."

Employees like clarity. They like praise. They like to be corrected and guided in a proactive, functional way, real-time, before things get out of hand.

Everyone likes a pat on the back. And often, just good daily reinforcement can make a world of difference in employee performance and satisfaction.

So "Whale Done," Ken Keller! Keep it up. I want you to know I'm sharing your "Reinforcement" column with all my management staff.
