Five fast-rising local bands take the stage tonight at The Vu nightclub in Newhall in the latest 21-and-older show presented by Santa Clarita-based Higher Level Productions.

un:armed, Out of Grey, A Race Called Man, Mission Black and Operation Downfall will take the stage starting at 9 p.m.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and admission is $5. The Vu is located on 8th Street near Railroad Avenue in downtown Newhall.

The evening will be highlighted by un:armed's screening of their new video, for "This Nightmare," on the seven flat-screen monitors throughout the venue.

"un:armed is one of the hardest-working bands in the Santa Clarita Valley," said Bret Lieberman of Higher Level. "They're after a major record deal and mainstream success, and we're doing everything we can to support them."

Lieberman also suggested fans of the powerful yet melodic rock trio make a call to KROQ-FM's "Locals Only" show and request "This Nightmare."

"And Doug, Derek and Bryan have entered the video in's 'SCV Rock Star' contest, which Higher Level is coproducing," Lieberman said. "Fans can vote for it online and help the band maybe win some major prizes that would help them on the road to success."

The un:armed video will be featured on the Fuse cable channel throughout October, he added.
