A second suspect connected to a Jan. 8 shooting in Canyon Country has been arrested.

Pablo Blanco, 19, of Canyon Country was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held on $50,000 bail Sunday.

Blanco was taken into custody at his Canyon Country residence after detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station received information that he was seen in the area. Deputies responded to his residence at the 18000 block of Delight Street on Friday afternoon.

It was the second arrest related to the shooting that was made by local law enforcement in less than one week. Daniel Gonzalez, 20, of Alpine, was booked on Thursday at the Sheriff's Station on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held on $53,500 bail.

Gonzalez is a suspect for the Jan. 8 shooting of a Canyon Country man near Whites Canyon Road and Lone Rock Street. Deputies also recovered the vehicle used in the shooting on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Jan. 8, when three male suspects in a dark-colored Ford Mustang reportedly approached a group of three men standing on Lone Rock Street and exchanged words with them. When one of the men in the street walked toward the car, a passenger in the vehicle allegedly fired at least one shot from a small-caliber handgun.

The 19-year-old victim was struck in the upper torso but survived his injuries. The shooting occurred in front of a house near the intersection of Lone Rock Street and Deep Tree Road in Canyon Country.

Detectives are still investigating and have not yet determined if these suspects have any connection to any of the other recent shooting incidents.

Local deputies spearheaded the arrest in conjunction with the COBRA Unit and Community Interaction Team.
