Happy last day of August to the Santa Clarita Valley. I hope everyone is enjoying the official “last” weekend of summer, although school has been in session in the SCV for a few weeks. A special Happy Birthday wish to my husband, Keith, who celebrates his “double nickle” birthday today!

Heart of the West
Kudos to all who made the annual Heart of the West the moving and wonderful evening it was! It’s nice to see in our struggling economy folks still support the worthy causes around town! To Denise Tomey and Becky Graham who founded Carousel Therapeutic Riding Ranch a dozen year ago — you’ve done good! Let’s also applaud Heather Edwards who pulled off a flawless event — her first Heart of the West.

Seen at Heart of the West
Inhabiting the horseshoe shaped head table were Wayne and Dianne Crawford and Gigi and Mike Bost (among others!) also spotted at the event Mary and Murray Siegel, Jeanna and Kyle Crawford, Jay and Teresa Harn, John Dow, Betty and Rick Fung, Bob Kellar, Dennis Poore, Stephanie and Jim Weiss, Richard and Chris Budman, Ingrid and TimBen Boydston, Scott and Vanessa Wilk, Jami Kennedy, Ed and Valerie Masterson, Bob and Sharon Spierer, Bob and Debbie Haueter, Margo Miller and Bob Hudson, Dale and Marsha McLean and Bruce and Gloria Fortine.

Broadway Bistro
Owners Michelle and David Bucks, of the Off Broadway Bistro, 23928 Summerhill Lane, Valencia, (near McBean Parkway and Deccoro), won the hearts of the seniors from nearby Fountain Glen senior apartments with a recent evening of entertainment presented by Katherine Myering, Dennis Poore, Charles Herrera and Jerry Lench along with a special price fixe menu. The excellent three course dinner, salad, choice of lasagna, meatloaf or chicken and dessert was priced at a senior friendly $12.50 each.
