Two local firefighters are among a group of 14 the Los Angeles County Fire Department is sending to the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast.

Sean Finley from Fire Station 76 and Carlo Loffredo from Fire Station 104 are part of the swift water rescue team scheduled for a 14-day tour on the Gulf Coast, Capt. Mike Brown said. The team will work with the Louisiana Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, he said.
The swift water rescue team is trained to pull victims from flood waters and rivers.

With floods plaguing the Gulf Coast, swift water teams are desperately needed, Brown said.
