Valencia baseball player Dylan Jones earned a scholarship to the University of Oregon.

Jones received the opportunity last Tuesday during a visit with the team and coaching staff.

The Vikings outfielder is the second player in the school's history to attend a Pac-10 school.

Last season, Jones batted a solid .466, scored 31 runs, 3 home runs with 22 RBI for the Vikings.

"I'm definitely feeling good about where I'm going," Jones said.

A Master Plan
Former Hart baseball catcher Bryan Lucas will forgo his scholarship to Cal Poly Pomona and instead will play for the Mustangs of The Master's College next spring.

Lucas received a scholarship offer to TMC late July and said that it was "the best decision I've ever made for my life."

Soccer Honor
The Master's College soccer player Jacob Marchesani was named the Golden State Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

The sophomore mid fielder received the honor after assisting his team scoring six points in the Mustangs two wins over Cal State San on Marcos on Sept. 2 and William Jessup on Saturday.

Army Rookie
Canyon graduate and current Army freshman Deanna Clegg was selected as the Patriot League's "Rookie of the Week."

Clegg assisted Army in a 1-0 win over Missouri State in the opening round of the 11th annual Toys for Tots Classic held in St. Louis last week.  Clegg was also selected as the MVP along with being named to the all-tournament team.

Speedy Duck
Former College of the Canyons receiver Terence Scott is having a successful season with the Ducks of the University of Oregon.

Scott finished the Ducks 66-24 rout over Utah State on Saturday with a career-high six catches for 117 yards and a touchdown in the team's season opener.

While playing for the Cougars, Scott was ranked among the top six junior college wide receivers in the country by SuperPrep as well as the publication JUCO 100.

A Pair of Shanes
Former Valencia football players Shane Vereen and Shane Morales are doing big things for their college teams.

Morales, who plays for the Beavers of Oregon State was a significant factor in OSU's match-up with Stanford on Aug. 28.

Morales added 13 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown, however his efforts were not enough to aid his team to a win as the Beavers lost 36-28.

Morales has accumulated 191 yards on 17 catches this season scoring one touchdown.

Vereen helped the Bears of Cal to overcome Michigan State in the team's 38-31 victory on Aug. 30.
So far this season Vareen has rushed for 181 yards with two touchdowns.

Raising Racquet
Last month the Paseo Club held the 5th Annual Junior Satellite Tennis Tournament and local athletes were among some of the competitors that took home awards.

Hart senior Ben Williams was the champion in the boys 18-under championships winning in singles and in doubles with partner Ronny Kimelman from Valencia. Ben Inchalik claimed the boys 16-under singles championship.

On the girls side Valencia's Clarice Fraczek won the 18-under singles title defeating her twin sister Emily Fraczek, but the duo turned around and were the victors in the doubles championship finals.

Shenelle Trujilo, a Vikings freshman, clinched the girls 14-under title.
