The Repertory East Playhouse will open its 2011 season with "Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune," by Terrence McNally. "This is an amazing piece of theater, and a challenge for us. We are all very excited for this production," said REP Artistic Director Ovington Michael Owston.

"Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune" (Frankie and Johnny in the moonlight) opens Friday Jan. 21. There will be an Opening Night Gala, including a complimentary wine and cheese reception, starting at 7 p.m. The curtain goes up at 8 p.m.

The story centers around Johnny, played by Jeff Alan-Lee, a new short-order cook in a Manhattan diner who goes home with Frankie, a waitress, played by Sasha Carrera. Johnny does everything he can to turn a one-night stand into the beginning of a lasting relationship. Frankie does everything she can to suppress the urge to jump in and give it a try.

This is a witty love story about what it takes to overcome our fears and take a chance on love - from Tony Award winning playwright Terrence McNally.

"Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune" will continue through Feb. 19. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There is no show Sunday, Feb. 6.

The REP will host post show discussions immediately following each Sunday matinee. Join the cast and crew for an intimate discussion about the process of creating live theater.

This play contains partial nudity, adult situations and adult language and is intended for mature audiences only.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for students and seniors. Group rates are available. Advance reservations are highly recommended. For tickets, purchase online at or call (661) 288-0000.

The Repertory East Playhouse is located at 24266 Main St. in the heart of Old Town Newhall. The year-long season features five Main Stage productions and two 81 Series studio productions.
