Supervisor Antonovich will join other Los Angeles County officials to dedicate the new $53 million Emergency Department and Acute Care Unit at Olive View – UCLA Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m.

Doubling current capacity, reducing wait time, increasing patient flow and improving diagnostic service coordination, the 32,000 square-foot building will feature 51 treatment areas, including adult critical care rooms and specialized rooms designed for pediatric patients and patients with tuberculosis and other infectious diseases.

The facility will open to the public on March 6, 2011 and the new inpatient acute care unit will open later in the spring.

The expansion project was unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2006.

Guided tours of the new facility will be offered following the program.

Olive View – UCLA Medical Center is located at 14445 Olive View Drive, Sylmar 91342.
