CHP amps up Highway 14 patrols

The California Highway Patrol has launched a 10-month enhanced enforcement effort to reduce the number of fatal and injury collisions involving drugs and alcohol on Highway 14.

CHP officers will focus on speeders, drivers making unsafe passes or turns and drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

There were 77 injuries and seven people killed due to of alcohol-involved collisions on segments of Highway 14 from Dec. 1, 2007 through Sept. 30, 2008.
