Jay and Diana Langlois of Valencia are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Jacqueline Langlois to Garrett Steffen, of Santa Clarita.

The bride-elect is the sister of Karri Langlois and Kristi Langlois and the granddaughter of Dale and Laverne Langlois, of Bourbonnais, Ill. She is a 2004 graduate of William S. Hart High School in Newhall, and a 2008 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. She is employed by Allstate.

The groom-elect is the son of Paul and Stephani Steffen, of Santa Clarita. He is the brother of Ryan Steffen and the grandson of Ralph and Carol Steffen, of Reseda. He is a graduate of William S. Hart High School. He is employed by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The couple met while attending William S. Hart High School. Garrett then was a junior, and Jackie a sophomore, and both were in the same Spanish class.

Garrett was a student teacher’s aid and sat near Jackie during class. With Winter Formal fast approaching, Jackie casually asked Garrett if he would like to go with her. Garrett agreed to go, but as the time grew closer to get a dress and tux, Garrett called and canceled. Most would think the story of these two would have ended then.

Yet, as time passed, Garrett pursued his dream of becoming a firefighter with the LAFD. While, Jackie went off to college at UCLA. The two seemed that they would never reunite. But, their paths crossed once more. The couple reunited. Garrett saw his dream of becoming a paramedic fireman for LAFD come true and Jackie graduated UCLA with a degree in political science and human complex theory.

The couple purchased a home together, got a new puppy named Stella and Garrett proposed to Jackie on Dec. 21.

The couple plan a wedding in Maui, Hawaii.
