Detectives were searching Friday for any alleged victims of a Canyon Country man arrested after allegedly videotaping a 12-year-old boy inside a College of the Canyons bathroom on Monday.

Daniel Donovan, 32, was charged with child molestation and possessing child pornography, according to a criminal complaint The Signal obtained Friday.

Investigators are reviewing videotapes shot by Donovan to see if he filmed any children, said Lt. Carlos Marquez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victim’s Bureau.

Donovan, who lives in the 14800 block of Daisy Meadow St., was being held Friday at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on $45,000 bail, according to arrest records.

On Monday, a 12-year-old boy said he saw a man try to videotape him while he tried to use a bathroom on the Valencia campus, according to a statement. The boy ran out of the bathroom and identified Donovan as the man who allegedly videotaped him.

Guards detained Donovan until deputies arrived on campus.

He was arrested later after deputies allegedly found child pornography in his car, Marquez said.

Marquez said the boy should be commended for quickly alerting campus security.

“This isn’t as uncommon as people think, and that’s sad,” Marquez said.

Donovan, who has attended COC intermittently since 2001, was currently enrolled in two classes on the Valencia campus, COC spokesman John McElwain said.

He previously attended Glendale Community College and Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale.

Donovan is scheduled to be arraigned at the Santa Clarita Courthouse in Newhall in April.

Anyone with information about this incident or others is asked to call authorities at (877) 710-5273.
