A civil lawsuit filed against a prominent music producer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in his Newhall home is an attempt at extortion, the producer’s lawyer said this week.

Noel “Detail” Fisher’s attorney, George Chakmankis, said Tuesday that the lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages for emotional distress, is an attempt to “defame” Fisher.

On April 1, Stephanie Rodriguez filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court’s Central Branch accusing Fisher of assaulting her in his home on the 24900 block of Wheeler Road the night of Jan. 29. Rodriguez was hired to help cater the party.

“Ms. Rodriguez went to the police with her specious claims over two months ago, and no charges were filed, despite the authorities doing a full and complete investigation into the matter,” Chakmankis said in a statement. “It appears that Ms. Rodriguez wants to further attempt to defame Mr. Fisher by leaking factually inaccurate information to the media, as well. We are confident that the legal process will vindicate Mr. Fisher in this civil action.”

As of Tuesday, criminal charges had not been filed against Fisher. Messages left Tuesday with authorities at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station investigating the alleged assault were not returned.

After the party, Fisher allegedly asked the woman to stay at his home to celebrate with other guests, and the pair got into an argument later that night, according to the lawsuit. During the argument, Fisher is accused of ripping off Rodriguez’s clothing, locking her in a room and sexually assaulting her.

Fisher has worked with a wide range of rap and pop stars, including Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera and Snoop Dogg, according to his website.
