SCV Dodger Day organizers have named the four locals who will throw out the first pitch at the 34th annual Santa Clarita Valley Dodger Day festivities at Dodger Stadium Saturday night, May 14.

Cary Quashen of ACTION will take the mound as pitcher, and Jim Ventress, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of SCV, will catch. The umpire will be longtime local Dodger fan Margie Lombardi, and former Little League and Canyon High coach Mario Olvera will serve as the squad's coach.

The SCV Dodger Day Committee has sent auditions for National Anthem and "God Bless America" singers to the Dodgers for final choice. The Dodgers will also choose the two local youngsters who will start the game by announcing "It's time for Dodger baseball!" over the stadium's public address system. The singer and announcers will be announced as soon as the Dodgers make the choices.

The SCV Dodger Day Committee includes Pat Downing and Paula Kraskian, city of Santa Clarita; Maureen Daniels, The Signal; Sharon Bronson, KHTS-AM 1220; and Dia Vasques, Helmers Elementary School.

SCV Dodger Day festivities are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. with the introduction of SCV community and school groups and officials. The SCV Youth Parade will gather on the warning track in center field, and each group will be seen on the giant DodgerVision screens when introduced.

Valencia High School's ROTC will serve as color guard as the National Anthem is sung.

Discounted tickets are available for purchase at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350, or at scvdodgerday.com, through noon Friday, May 6.

Tickets will still be available at regular prices from the Dodger Stadium box office after that.

Each school or nonprofit group that sells more than 25 tickets will receive a rebate.
