The deadline is approaching to file an application for six vacant positions on the William S. Hart Union High School District's Measure V Citizens Oversight Committee. The committee reviews use of funds from the local school construction bond passed by voters in 2001 and reports to the public on whether the funds are spent as required by law.

Applications must be turned in to the district office by 4 p.m. Monday in order to have a new slate of committee members approved by the district Governing Board in time to take their seats when the committee starts its new term March 24.

The Hart District Governing Board established the com-mittee with a maximum of 17 members, who serve for two-year terms and a maximum of two consecutive terms. The current committee member terms will expire on Feb. 29, and some have chosen not to apply for a second term.

The committee meets monthly on the fourth Monday evening, with additional subcommittee meetings as needed. Members represent a cross-section of the com-munity and cannot be em-ployees, vendors, contractors or consultants to the Hart District. The committee is in need of citizens who serve on parent parent at Hart district schools, such as PTSA, Parent Advisory Committees or School Site Councils.

Applications are available at the district office at 21515 Centre Pointe Parkway, or can be downloaded at www.hart and clicking on "Oversight Committee." A copy can also be requested by calling (661) 259-0033, Ext. 271.
