Chris Angelo was named incoming 2012 Chairman of the Board for the SCV Chamber of Commerce by the current chairman, Dana Cop.

Angelo, who is CEO of Stay Green Inc. in Santa Clarita, has been active with the chamber for more than a decade and currently serves as the acting chief financial officer for the chamber’s executive committee. He is also on the Golf Tournament committee. The tournament is one of the chamber’s major annual fundraisers.

“I’m so excited,” said Dana Cop, current chairman of the board for the chamber.

“Chris is the epitome of this community as a family guy and business owner,” Cop said. “And his appointment is a natural progression of initiatives to come.”

Incoming chairs are named well in advance of their service year so that both the current and future chairmen can work together throughout the year, resulting in a smooth transition to each new year.

“Plans we start today may not come to fruition until next year,” Cop said. “Working together allows us to be in lock-step with each other.”

Santa Clarita isn’t a small town anymore and the business community is increasingly a force to be reckoned with, Cop said.

The SCV Chamber of Commerce “State of the County” luncheon held at the Hyatt Regency Valencia on Wednesday proved as much when more than 300 members of the local business community filled the banquet room to hear Supervisor Michael Antonovich speak.

Angelo’s vision for this year and next is that the SCV Chamber of Commerce act as a staple of the local economy, by working together with business leaders and organizations in the area and surrounding areas.

Angelo named a few organizations such as VICA, VIA and the SCVEDC as groups the chamber can team up with.

“We all serve a simple purpose and mission,” Angelo said. “Our members can benefit greatly by working together.”
