Bowman High School’s Principal Robin Geissler and counselor Suzy Mansfield attended the recent California Department of Education Model Continuation High School Awards ceremony held in Oakland on May 7.

The awards ceremony was the culminating event for the California Continuation Education Association’s annual state conference. Bowman was one of 27 schools of 504 in the state to receive this prestigious award.

Bowman High School has received the prestigious award three times in the past 12 years. The process to become a Model Continuation School involves a comprehensive written application, which includes more than 60 quality indicators, including student achievement data, graduation rates and supporting statements from staff, students, parents, community members and business stakeholders.

After a rigorous screening of Bowman’s application by a panel of experts, a validation site visit by a trained, Model Continuation School Visiting Team occurred.
