One step closer to Castaic High

Hart district to select, vote on site Thursday

Drumroll, please.

The Hart district governing board will vote to select a site for the long-awaited high school in Castaic at Thursday's meeting.

"We thoroughly expect them to make that decision on Thursday," said Pat Willett, spokeswoman for the William S. Hart Union High School District.

While the location will be discussed, hinted at and perhaps even revealed at Wednesday's meeting of the Castaic Area Town Council, it will not be official until board members vote on the item Thursday. Hart district administrators will be at the Castaic meeting to present information about potential sites.

Overcrowding at district high schools has created a need for a high school in the Castaic area for years. The Hart district began investigating potential sites in 2002.

Those sites currently being considered are Mandoline Canyon; Romero Canyon; Hasley/Sloan; Hasley/Lombardi; Sterling Gateway Commercial; and Sterling/Residential.
