Lennar offers new-home financing deal
Valencia’s Lennar communities are offering special new-home pricing and financing through Universal American Mortgage Company of California between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. today and Sunday.

Many buyers can qualify for conventional FHA loan at 3 percent down on a loan buy-down of 3.25 percent for the first year, 4.25 percent second year, and 5.25 percent (5.79 percent APR) fixed for life through UAMC, which is offering other special terms.

To take advantage of these offers, all homes are required to close by Nov. 28 and those who buy this weekend might be able to move in by Thanksgiving.

Many immediate-move-in inventory includes designer interior finishes, upgraded landscaping, spa bathrooms and chef’s kitchens.

Second Wingstop opening in SCV
A second Wingstop location recently opened on 18547 Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country. Wingstop was awarded Best Overall Company 2008 by the American Business Awards.

Comics store hosts contest
Brave New World Comics hosts a local artists challenge to create a 24-page comic book within 24 straight hours from noon today to noon Sunday at 22722 Lyons Ave. No. 6.  “24 Hour Comics Day is a great way to see the creative process in action,” said Atom Freeman of the Newhall store.

The challenge is part of an international celebration of comic book creation where cartoonists around the globe will take on the same challenge. Artists and comics creators of every artistic level will participate. Call (661) 259-4745 or email

Candleman offers benefit
Candleman of Valencia presents a “Shopping Night” to benefit a leukemia and lymphoma fund from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Candleman Store at 28269 Newhall Ranch Road. The community can contribute by placing a bid in the silent auction on gift baskets containing specialty candles and gift certificates, buying a plush bear for $10, buying a balloon to honor someone, or giving a cash donation of any amount. Fifteen-percent of all sales will be donated to “Light the Night Walk,” a fund and awareness raising walk to benefit Cancer Research and Patient Services which will take place the following Sunday.
