Residents who plan energy-efficient upgrades to their homes now have a "one-stop shop" in to guide them through the process.

Energy Upgrade California helps Santa Clarita and other Los Angeles County homeowners make upgrades to reduce energy use, lower energy bills and conserve resources.

The program helps homeowners to:

- Find an energy adviser or program-certified contractor to complete work.

- Schedule a home audit to receive an energy efficiency checklist, which will provide a road map for improvements needed to obtain a program rebate.

- Apply for rebates, incentives or financing to help pay for energy upgrades.

By participating in Energy Upgrade California, homeowners could receive up to $4,500 in rebates. For a limited time, community members can receive up to $6,000 in rebates by enrolling in the program before Sept. 5.

Energy Upgrade California is a project of the California Energy Commission and funded in part through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
