Former Hart swimmer Rachael Krager claimed first place in her debut college swim meet at Washington State University. Krager finished the 1650-freestyle at the Pacific Invitational with a time of 17:20.74.

Krager took the lead with 400 yards left to go in the event and out-raced the University of the Pacific's Jayme Swalin and KC Albiston.

Krager was a four-year varsity letterman in swimming at Hart and set numerous school records while with the Indians.

Baseball Standout
Former Canyon baseball player Shawn Miller is one of three new California recruits who is making an impact with the Hendrix College baseball program in Conway, Arkansas. Miller, a left-handed first baseman and relief pitcher is also expected to see time in the designated hitter role throughout 2009.

Miller finished his senior season with the Cowboys batting .231, scored 12 runs with 11 RBI and one home run.

Injury Update
Canyon wide receiver Chris Rivas is feeling better after suffering a concussion in the team's matchup with Valencia last Friday night. Rivas will be back in action for the Cowboys when they face Hart at the College of the Canyons on Friday.

The 5-foot-9 wideout has been a leader on the team offensively, receiving for 685 yards off 34 catches with six touchdowns.

Keeps on rollin
Former Hart baseball player Chris Valaika, who is playing for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall league, had a huge game in the team's 14-11 victory on Saturday against the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Valaika went 3-for-5 bringing his AFL average to .333. Valaika also belted a homer in the second inning.

The Cincinnati Reds third-round pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft has two homers, seven RBIs and six runs scored in nine fall games for the Javelinas.
