Senior lunch menu

Available Monday through Friday at the SCV Senior Center in Newhall. Meals are also available when you call one day ahead at Bouquet Canyon Seniors, Monday through Friday, (661) 513-9479, and available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Masonic Lodge in Friendly Valley (661) 299-4595.

Nov. 2 — Insurance specialists Laura Caverhill and Sue Endress will present: “A Comprehensive Insurance Seminar Featuring Important Information on Auto, Home, and Life Options.”

Nov. 2 — 11 a.m. to noon, Podiatrist Dr. Shane Rhodes of Canyon Foot Care will provide free foot exams in Supportive Services. Note: Inspection only. No nail or callus trimming.

Nov. 9 — Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital lecture: To Be Announced

Nov. 16 — Miguel Palmer, Branch Manager of the Social Security Administration, Santa Clarita, will present a comprehensive lecture on Social Security.

Nov. 16 — 11 a.m. to noon, Audiologist Randall Bartlett of Audiology Services of Newhall will provide free hearing exams in Supportive Services. Tests are for people who do not wear hearing appliances however, audiologist welcomes all hearing-related questions.

Nov. 30 — Roshni Jain, Research Scientist at Boston Scientific Neuromodulation (Valencia) will present: “Newest Treatments for Advanced Parksinson’s Disease and Chronic Back Pain.”

Issues in Aging workshop series

AARP Driver Safety Program

Free spine education program

 Functional Fitness

At 8:30 a.m. M-W-F, we’re movin’ and groovin’, steppin’ and sweatin’ to the beat with ACE Certified Exercise Specialist Linda Bennett.

We’re the new and improved “middle age” 50-plus active adults. The program encompasses functional fitness – moves are designed to simulate ADLs (activities of daily living), and sports moves like golf, tennis, and skiing. We do cardiovascular training, muscle and bone building, core stabilization and spatial awareness for balance – all within one hour. If you’re not quite ready for the fast and furious fitness, at 9:45 a.m. there is a great 30-minute chair class that will suit you. Food for the Soul

Put smiles on the faces and warm the hearts of homebound seniors when you become a home-delivered meal driver. Become a part of our volunteer team to ensure that no senior goes without a meal. Help is desperately needed for as little as two and one-half hours one day a week or even one day a month (Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.). Vehicles provided.
