Albert Einstein Academy for Letters, Arts and Sciences families and students took part in two charity events as a way to give back to the Santa Clarita Valley.

Einstein Academy families joined with other community members Oct. 1 and 2 to help raise awareness of the homeless families in our own community. The families participated in Box City and raised pledges and slept overnight in Bridgeport Park in Valencia, in a cardboard box “home” as residents.

Santa Clarita City Councilwoman Laurie Ender presented an award to 14 Einstein Academy junior and senior high school students for their contribution in the making of a “robot” which consisted of about 25 boxes and then decorated. This was Einstein Academy’s first award won at the Box City event.

Shortly after, on Oct. 15, the American Diabetes Foundation held a walk in the Bridgeport community that was well attended by many members of Santa Clarita community. Some of the Albert Einstein Academy families assisted in the walk by setting up food or serving food to the walkers, selling raffles and helping with the silent auction. A few of the AEA family members have been personally touched by diabetes affecting their lives, as has many other members of the community at large, as well.
