Sunday, Dec. 4, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will officially kick off the holiday season with the annual Community Tree Lighting. The three-hour event begins at 2 p.m. and features holiday entertainment, refreshments, children's crafts and activities, and letters to Santa. Santa arrive at 2:30 p.m. and will be available for photos from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The conclusion of the event will take place at 5 p.m. with the lighting of the tree. Residents are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be collected by Santa, Mrs. Claus and their friends aboard the train. The train is decorated with holiday displays and 50,000 twinkling lights. All toys will be donated to the Southland Firefighters' "Spark of Love" toy drive.

Dec. 9, 10 and 11, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. - Follow the Bethlehem tells the story of Jesus Christ with actors, animals, dramatic music and dialogue. Guests may view the pageant by walking at their own pace or from the comfort of their car. Multiple scenes are presented that depict the life of Jesus. The final scene brings you back to today with a family sharing the Christmas story from the Bible in their own living room. Donations accepted of non-perishable food and personal items for the charitable organizations that feed and care for the needy in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3:30 p.m.: The Santa Clarita Master Chorale offers "Your Holiday Show of Shows." Big screen, small screen - all of your holiday favorites are here. From "White Christmas" to Rudolph and Frosty, the Chorale presents seasonal favorites from all musical traditions, featuring selections from "Messiah" by Handel and a world premiere: a "Magnificat" from California composer Kevin Memley. The Santa Clarita Children's Honor Choir will again join the Chorale to help celebrate the holidays.

Saturday, Dec. 3, 2 p.m.: The annual Winter Magic Festival, featuring a Lighted Boat Parade. Children's games, snow to play in, food and snacks. Music, followed by the arrival of Santa - and then the lighted boats parade around the lower lagoon. (Parade begins at 5 p.m.) Vehicle entrance fee is $11 before 4 p.m. and free after that.
