Are you getting into the holiday spirit? It’s hard not to when the community is festively decorated in the glitz and glamour of the holidays. If you’re looking to get your holiday on, Old Town Newhall offers a variety of experiences starting this weekend that are perfectly suited for everyone to enjoy this season.

This year’s holiday festivities kick off on Sunday with a free, live musical show as the Metrolink Holiday Toy Express makes its stop in Old Town Newhall.

Help spread holiday cheer by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the Jan Heidt Newhall Metrolink Station, located at 24300 Railroad Avenue, at 7 p.m. Decorated with holiday displays and 50,000 twinkling lights, the 450-ton train will deliver fun to residents of all ages. All toys will be collected by Santa, Mrs. Claus and their friends aboard the glittering Metrolink Holiday Toy Express and donated to the Southland Firefighters’ Spark of Love toy drive.

In anticipation of the train’s arrival at the Newhall Metrolink, carolers from the Canyon Theatre Guild and special guests of the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will treat the crowd to festive holiday music.

The Old Town Newhall Association will provide complimentary hot chocolate, candy canes and cookies. Additionally, Railroad Cafe will host a holiday boutique fundraiser from 5 - 9 p.m. benefitting the Castaic Animal Shelter.

The fun continues Dec. 3, with a festive Holiday Boutique from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hart Hall, located at 24151 Newhall Ave. Sponsored by the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Holiday Home Tour League, the free indoor boutique will delight shoppers with holiday gifts from more than 40 vendors.

All funds raised at the event will benefit the Hospital’s new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) scheduled for completion in late December. For more information, contact (661) 253-8051 or visit

On Dec. 10, the Hart Mansion will set the stage for another festive event to be held in honor of the season — Cowboys and Carols. Head over to the William S. Hart Park and Museum at 7 p.m. to take in an intimate evening of Western music from the Tumbling Tumbleweeds, refreshments and great company in celebration of the holiday season and what would be Western movie legend Bill Hart’s 147th birthday.

Prior to the concert, guests may also enjoy guided tours of the Hart Museum decorated in holiday splendor. For more information or to reserve a ticket, contact the Friends of Hart Park at (661) 254-4584 or visit

Main Street will transform into a winter block party for a Winter on the Rocks block party from 7 - 11 p.m. on Dec. 15. Complete with live music, festive food trucks, specialty drinks, interactive activities, street performances, event promotions and more, SENSES on Main Street is a free event hosted on third Thursday of every month. To learn more about this monthly event, visit

Throughout the month of December, residents can also attend live performances at theatres located right on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. Take in a brand new musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol Musical” at the Canyon Theatre Guild, or various shows at the Repertory East Playhouse. Visit and for show times and ticket information.

In addition to setting the stage for festive activities and theatrical performances, Old Town Newhall remains a great place to “shop local” in style. Residents can check items from holiday wish lists while browsing the diverse and interesting shops lining Main Street’s newly revamped boardwalk. Whatever your needs this holiday season — from shopping to entertainment — Old Town Newhall’s got you covered.
