City hosts housing plan study session
The Santa Clarita Planning Commission will hear a presentation from city planners and the project consultant regarding the draft Housing Element of the new General Plan at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Century room at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Boulevard. The public is invited to attend the study session.
The draft Housing Element is one of seven elements of the joint city and county General Plan known as One Valley/One Vision.

Kidz N Power fair and expo
The Santa Clarita Valley Professional Network hosts the Kidz N Power Children's Fair and Business Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at ATA Martial Arts, 26635 Valley Center Drive in Canyon Country. The event features hands-on displays, interactive games, moon bounces and various demonstrations.

Horse care seminar Sunday
The Melody Oaks Ranch hosts an afternoon of education and information on natural horse care beginning at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The event is free and open to the public and covers topics like natural horsemanship, equine acupuncture and chiropractic, equine dentistry and equine marketing, among other topics. Book drive to promote literacy
ADPROS, the Santa Clarita-based American Advertising Federation affiliate, is collecting new books for kindergarten through third graders as part of the national campaign Books for Kids Foundation. ADPROS desires to promote literacy among disadvantaged children and youth through these efforts. Books will be collected from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays through Nov. 18 at Stacey Hauge Printing, 28486 Westinghouse Place, Bldg. 110 in Valencia.
