The recent wildfires in Santa Barbara and Sylmar remind us how vulnerable we are at this time of year.
Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope this year the Santa Clarita Valley can avoid destructive fires.

Zonta Tribute is fun bash
It was wonderful to see the Zonta Tribute dinner return to fun form and provide an entertaining evening to guests and supporters.

However, I didn't know so many people owned "biker" duds!

A special tip of the low cut dress to Gloria Mercado for her inspired "channeling" of Pauline Harte.

It was great fun to have the entertaining speakers poke gentle fun at guest of honor Duane Harte.

Kudos to event chairwomen Michele Mann, Judy Penman and Donna Schmidt.

Vino 100 gives back to the SCV
In addition to donating wine to various nonprofits around the SCV, Vino 100 has scheduled a special event to help stamp out hunger in the SCV.
During November, patrons can give to an in-store food collection box that will be donated to Santa Clarita's Hunger Defense Fund. In addition, the neighborhood wine store features a "10 for 10" promotion to collect monetary donations, which will be forwarded directly to the food bank. Shoppers can visit Vino 100 until Nov. 29 and make a donation of $10 or more payable directly to the Hunger Defense Fund. In turn, customers will receive a 10 percent discount on their store purchases that day, excluding special sales events.
On Sunday, Nov. 23, 10 percent of all store sales will be donated to the nonprofit organization. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
