The band Sons of Korah will perform a free concert at Santa Clarita Baptist Church tonight and Sunday, giving the local community a chance to experience the psalms through music.

The band is originally from Australia and is currently on tour, making two stops in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Lead singer Matthew Jacoby said the concert takes the audience on a musical journey that uses a variety of instruments, including mandolins and different forms of percussion that blend various musical styles.

“It’s really about engaging with this book of psalms that’s at the heart of the Bible in an impactful way,” he said.

Sons of Korah, which garners its name from Old Testament Levitical musicians, is one of a handful of bands that continue to perform psalms in concert, Jacoby said.

“It’s so incredibly relevant now and recognizable,” he said.

The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Both of the concerts will take place at Santa Clarita Baptist Church, 27249 Luther Drive in Canyon Country. There is no entry fee; however, the band will be taking donations.
