Spring begins Tuesday. I hope this weekend's deluge brings us a bumper crop of beautiful spring blooms and green hills and pastures.

Man, Woman of the Year
I always love attending the annual SCV Man and Woman of the Year Paparazzi Party. This year's nominees include: Agnes Russell, Steve Kilker, Myrna Condie, Tom Dierckman, Debbie Heyes, Steve Sturgeon, Laurie Ender, Gary Choppe, Linda Hafizi, Marina Contreras, Gerri McCorkle, John Lutz, Sue Endress, Jim Lentini, Dawn Hovhannisyan, Diana and Bob Benjamin, Cheryl Gray and Bill Lively. What a notable crowd. Kudos to all the nominees.

Good Samaritans sought

Every so often, we hear of a story that touches us so deeply we have to share, and to reach out to the community for help.

A man recently called the newsroom telling us about the plight of his 12-year-old cat, which was very ill. A generous and compassionate vet in the SCV helped cure the cat.

However, the cat owner, who is on disability, is unable to pay the bill. He doesn't want to default on what he owes the vet who saved his cat's life, but doesn't know where to turn for help.

He has called several animal organizations that claim to offer assistance to pet owners and has been turned down for help.

If any of our readers are willing to reach out and help this gentleman with his vet bill, please contact me at

Travel safely to Sacramento

The sixth annual road trip to Sacramento coordinated by KHTS will hit the highway Monday and Tuesday.

The bus will be filled with business and community leaders from the SCV.

The group will be meet with politicians, administrators and other state leaders about issues of importance to the SCV including the state budget, water, education and transportation.

Don't be afraid of rain

Today is the Fashion, Fun and Fantasy Fashion Show and Supper Club at the Hyatt Regency Valencia to benefit Soroptimist International of Greater SCV. Don't be afraid of the rain.

Come to the boutique that begins at 3 p.m. and shop for some fabulous fashions and more. If you have tickets to the show, doors open at 5:30 p.m.
