The Albert Einstein Academy for Letters, Arts and Sciences achieved first place in a weeklong math competition that took place Presidents Day.

Einstein Academy students were given a chance to enter the Sumdog National Math competition. It was open to any seventh- and eighth-graders who volunteered.

A total of 27 Einstein Academy students competed online with more than 100 elementary and middle schools from all over California.

The overall scores are average correct answers per student in each school.

Einstein Academy students Ben Needham and Gideon Baik took first and second place, respectively, and Rita Aksenfeld came in third place for the Sumdog math competition among the participating Einstein students.

A minimum of 15 students were needed to meet the standards for qualification. The Einstein Academy has been awarded math software for winning first place among the other schools.

Students were able to access and play the games from any computer with Internet.
