College of the Canyons sophomore forward Rafael Love was named to the All-State First-Team for men’s basketball in the California Community College Athletic Association.

Love, who was the 11th player in school history to earn such an honor, also joined COC teammates Wes Bartole and Brad Wyche on the All-Western State Conference, South Division First Team.

This season, Love averaged 17.9 points per game and pulled down a team-high 200 rebounds to go along with 46 steals.

On the women’s side, three Cougar players were named to the All-WSC South First Team — sophomore forward Angelica Sahagun, sophomore forward Jazzmyn Davis and freshman guard Amanda Ajdari.

Sahagun led the WSC South in scoring with 18.8 points per contest and was ranked 10th in the state in scoring to help COC win its seventh straight conference title.

Davis led the Cougars with 11.2 rebounds per game and she posted 14.6 points per game.

Both Sahagun and Davis were given first-team nods for the second time in their COC careers.

Ajdari, a Hart High graduate, was the team’s only freshman honoree. She dished out a conference-high 8.1 assists per game.
