I hope everyone’s Easter baskets are overflowing with jellybean Easter eggs, chocolate bunnies and coconut nests.

Take a careful count of all the eggs you’ve hidden and make sure you’ve found them all. There’s nothing as scary as a month-old Easter egg found lurking behind the sofa.

Kudos to SCV Man of Honor Cameron Smyth

The SCV Women and Men of Honor organization announced Wednesday at its monthly social that California Assemblyman Cameron Smyth has been named the first Man of Honor.

He will be feted on Sept. 8 during the “A Night at the Coconut Grove” fundraiser and honoree banquet.

SCV Women and Men of Honor will raise funds to benefit existing SCV nonprofits.

Santa Clarita Child & Family Center will benefit from this year’s “fund a need” and other moneys raised will go toward the arts, education, health care and mental health services in the SCV.

The SCV Woman of Honor will be announced shortly. This event should not be confused with SCV Man and Woman of the Year, which honors volunteers for years of community service.

Teabags Tea and Garden Tour

The annual Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Teabags will host the group’s 12th annual Tea and Garden Tour at the beautiful Valencia home of Sally Coss.

Coss is recovering nicely from surgery for a benign tumor she reported to me earlier this week.

The tea and tour will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29. The Coss garden is one of the wonders of the SCV.

For information, call Wendy at 661-254-2350.

Still collecting funds to help pay vet bill

I’m still collecting funds to help a disabled SCV man pay his vet bill after his cat became ill earlier this year.

A kindly veterinarian helped save the cat’s life, but now this SCV cat owner is struggling to make good on his bill.

Please email me at if you’d like to help out.

Cowboy Festival at Melody Ranch

It looks like this year’s Cowboy Festival at Melody Ranch April 21-22 will be the best one yet. Except for the missing Sons of the San Joaquin, all my favorites are at the Ranch this year — Dave Stamey, Brenn Hill, Jon Chandler, Cow Bop, Quebe Sisters Band and RW Hampton. Wow, I can’t wait.

Of course, the Cowboy Cultural Committee from Visalia will be on hand with its famous Cowboy Cobbler.
