Coming off a big week at the plate, The Master’s College catcher and Hart High graduate Bryan Lucas was named the Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

The junior contributed heavily in a week that included five wins in five games for TMC.

Lucas went 5-for-8 with two home runs, a double, seven RBIs and three runs in three games during the week.

That included two victories over the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics 25th-ranked Cal State San Marcos.

In Thursday’s game against San Marcos, Lucas belted a grand slam to help his team hang on for the 8-7 win, which was the team’s seventh straight.

For the season, the catcher is batting .311 with seven homers and 30 RBIs, both team bests, and he’s been consistently solid behind the plate.

It was the second straight week a TMC player received a weekly honor from the conference. On April 2, senior pitcher Charlie Gillies was named the GSAC Pitcher of the Week.
