McLean named vice chair for Orangeline

Agency to improve transportation

The Orangeline Maglev Development Authority Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint Santa Clarita Councilwoman Marsha McLean as vice chair for the authority for 2009.

"I am pleased to have been selected as vice chair for the Orangeline Maglev Development Authority," McLean said in a statement. "Bringing this fast, convenient and environmentally sensitive mass transit project to Southern California is an incredible investment in our future mobility as a region."

The Orangeline Maglev Development Authority is a joint powers agency made up of 14 cities interested in pursuing development and deploying the magnetic levitation train technology in Southern California.

The cities include Artesia, Bell, Bellflower, Cerritos, Cudahy, Downey, Glendale, Huntington Park, Maywood, Palmdale, Paramount, Santa Clarita, South Gate and Vernon.
