Max Homa continues to rake in the awards this year. The Valencia High graduate and University of California, Berkeley golfer was named to the All-Pac-12 second team on Monday.

The announcement came just a week after Cal won its first Pac-12 title in school history, defeating University of Oregon in a two-hole playoff in Corvallis, Ore.

For winning the conference title, the Golden Bears earned a spot in the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regional Championship at the Stanford University Golf Course. Cal is the No. 1 seed among 13 total teams in the regional.

Also included in the field will be Pepperdine University junior and Hart High graduate Johnny MacArthur, who will be competing as one of 10 individuals in the tournament taking place from May 17-19.

Of those competing at Stanford, the top five teams and the top unattached individual will advance to the NCAA Championship, which this year takes place at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades from May 29-June 3.

If NCAA No. 5-ranked Cal can make it out of the regional, it will mark the team’s third straight appearance in the NCAA Championship. MacArthur is looking for his second appearance in a row.

Homa, a junior at Cal, has a team-best 71.4 scoring average this season and he was named the team’s co-MVP along with teammates Brandon Hagy and Michael Kim.

Homa was named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Month in February after strong performances at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate and the Del Walker Match Play Championship.

His season has included four top-five and five top-10 finishes in team tournaments and he’s compiled a 5-2 record in match play.

Golfweek has Homa listed as the 30th ranked men’s collegiate golfer in the nation.

MacArthur's scoring average of 72.97 this year ranks second on Pepperdine. He has two top-10 finishes this season.
