Six Flags Magic Mountain was recently named Theme Park Insider readers’ pick as the No. 1 roller coaster park in the world.

Theme Park Insider is a specialty publication that offers reviews of theme and amusement park rides, restaurants and shows. In addition, readers rate and review the world’s top theme and amusement parks.

The publication announced last week that after compiling the scores from hundreds of roller coasters and dozens of theme parks worldwide, it had determined a list of the top 20 roller coaster parks in the world.

“Six Flags Magic Mountain would like to thank the fans who voted for this award, and we are proud to be the Thrill Capital of the World with more coasters than any theme park on the planet,” said Bonnie Rabjohn, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor park president.

The rankings were determined by quality, not quantity of roller coasters, according to the publication.

Six Flags Magic Mountain earned the No. 1 spot with nine “good” coasters and four “elite” coasters.

The top coaster at the park was determined to be Tatsu. A good ranking was determined to be an average reader score of 8 or higher. An elite ranking was determined by an average reader score of 9 or higher.

The No. 2 park on the list was Cedar Point in Ohio, with seven good coasters and four elite coasters.

Six Flags Magic Mountain plans to open its latest attraction, Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom in mid-June. The ride, currently under construction, is attached to both sides of the Superman: Escape from Krypton tower. When finished, the ride will be the world’s tallest vertical-drop ride.
