The Master’s College men’s golf team came up short of a bid to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championship after finishing second in the NAIA Regional Championship earlier this week.

One TMC golfer, sophomore Thane Ringler, will continue his season in the NAIA finals, however, after receiving an individual invitation on Friday for the tournament, which will take place at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore., from May 22-25.

Ringler shot three rounds of 71, 74 and 75 for an overall score of 4-over at the NAIA Regional that ran from Sunday to Tuesday at Black Horse Golf Course in Monterey.

The score was good enough for fifth place in a field of 58 golfers.

As a team, The Mustangs came in at 29-over par to finish behind winner Point Loma Nazarene’s 15-over. Only the first-place team advanced to the national championship.

Finishing behind Ringler for TMC were Daniel Mothershead and John Lawson, who both shot three-day scores of 10-over to tie for 11th place.

Michael Reitz (12-over) and Connor Miele (13-over) rounded out the scoring for the Mustangs at regionals.
