A Little League softball team and coworkers of a woman killed in a single-car crash Sunday are holding a fundraiser for the victim’s family Saturday.

Amber Popiel, 30, died early Sunday after her car crashed into a tree on Soledad Canyon Road at Lost Canyon Road.

She is survived by her husband, Wesley, and her children: daughter 8-year-old Alyce and son Adam, 5.

Her daughter’s softball team, The Little League Royals, is holding a fundraiser Saturday at the Jersey Mike’s Subs shop on Soledad Canyon Road in the Canyon Country shopping center where the Jo Anne Darcy Library is located.

The team, sponsored by Jersey Mike’s Subs, is working with Popiel’s coworkers at Petersen Dean Roofing.

“It’s been a very rough week for us,” said coworker Trish Lamas.

“Amber was a ray of light, like sunshine around here,” she said Thursday. “She was a very positive person. And she was known for her great Halloween parties.”

Popiel, who graduated from Canyon High School in 2000, worked as an administrative assistant for the roofing company.

She was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital early Sunday following the crash.
