Thousands of art pieces made by Newhall School District students will be on display from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Valencia Valley Elementary School as part of the district's annual Art Show.

The show is a culmination of the school district's Visual Arts program, which reaches 2,000 fourth- and fifth-graders at 10 different elementary schools. The program is designed to integrate the arts with language arts, math, science,
history and social sciences.

"By teaching students to focus on skill development in art lessons, we are training them to acknowledge the potential for growth and change - that it is possible to develop artistic skills," the district's visual arts teacher John Fossa said.

The community is invited to the Art Show, which takes place at Valencia Valley Elementary, 23601 Carrizo Drive in Valencia.
