With summer just around the corner and gas prices high, it might be a good time to check out public transit options in and around Santa Clarita.

Community members might be surprised to learn that Santa Clarita Transit provides a wide range of transportation services for teens, families and seniors to save money, increase mobility options, reduce commuting stress and travel to surrounding cities.

Santa Clarita Transit offers a variety of services to make it easy and affordable to ride the bus to the beach, travel throughout town or visit other neighboring cities and tourist destinations.

The Summer Beach Bus

The city of Santa Clarita is proud to bring back the Summer Beach Bus. The air-conditioned bus ride provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy a ride to Santa Monica Beach without dealing with traffic or parking concerns.

Traveling on Saturdays and Sundays, June 9 through Sept. 2, fares are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for persons with disabilities and seniors 60 years of age and over.

On Saturdays, the city will run two beach buses, with Route 100 serving the east side of the city, and Route 101, serving the west side of the city. On Sunday, the city will use beach bus Route 102 to service both the east and west sides of Santa Clarita.

Buses will depart Santa Clarita beginning at 8:40 a.m., and arrive in Santa Monica around 10:30 a.m. Return trips to Santa Clarita will pickup patrons from Santa Monica at 3:30 p.m.

Community members can board the Beach Bus at various locations throughout the city, including: Santa Clarita Park, Canyon Country Park, Soledad Canyon Road and Solamint Drive, Soledad Canyon Road and Shangri-La Drive, Via Princessa Metrolink Station, Santa Clarita Metrolink Station, Cinema Drive Park ‘N Ride and McBean Regional Transit Center.
