The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation has selected an executive director with experience as a YMCA director and as a consultant to nonprofit groups to lead the organization in its fundraising efforts.

Ivan Price started his new job Jan. 10 and has kept busy visiting local Boys & Girls Clubs in Canyon Country, Newhall and Val Verde; becoming acquainted with committee members; and reviewing what the foundation has accomplished over the last five years.
"I've met some very nice people and I've attended some board meetings," Price said. "It's actually been very busy."
The Boys & Girls Club of SCV Foundation was formed in July 2002 as the fundraising arm of the Club. Price replaces Judy Belue, who had served as executive director since the foundation's creation and relocated to Mississippi last September.
Before coming to Santa Clarita, Price worked as a YMCA director at five different YMCAs. In 1984, he formed Ivan Price Associates in San Diego, a firm devoted to serving nonprofit organizations - with a focus on youth organizations - throughout Southern California and the West.
Price is living out of his motor home while he ties up a few loose ends and sells his home in the Coachella Valley.
His wife, Barbara, was in Santa Clarita over the weekend and she and Price went house-hunting and explored the area. The couple has four grown children and seven grandchildren.
"This is a big area and there are a lot of exciting things happening here," Price said.
"I'm very impressed with what the Boys & Girls Club here has to offer."
The foundation organizes three major events each year, which provide about half of the club's budget.
The Boys & Girls Club Auction is scheduled for June 15; the annual golf tournament will take place Aug. 4; and the Festival of Trees will be held Nov. 15, Price said.
In addition to overseeing the annual events, Price will obtain new grants for the club, work with volunteers, develop and expand the board, oversee the annual capital endowment and planned giving programs, and spearhead the new Campaign for Kids.
