Another Foothill Leaguer collected a statewide baseball honors this week as released its list of top prep baseball players for the 2012 season.

Valencia senior Trey Williams was named a 2012 Cal-Hi Sports all-state first-team infielder on Monday, putting him on an elite list of the top 30 high school players in California.

Williams was one of seven infielders on the list, finishing the year with a .378 average and a .541 on-base percentage. He finished his Valencia career with 29 home runs, which is the most in Foothill League history.

The Pepperdine University commit was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 11th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft in June, though he has yet to sign given his option to play college ball.

Williams, who was an All-Santa Clarita Valley first-team selection, was the only Foothill player on the Cal-Hi first team, though West Ranch freshman Jagger Rusconi was named Cal-Hi’s freshman of the year on June 20.

Former Valencia High infielder Timmy Lopes, who finished his prep career at Edison High, earned an all-state second-team nod.

He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the sixth round on the same day as Williams.
